In October 2025, the winners of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award—the highest national scientific and technological accolade in the machinery sector, established by China Machinery Industry Federation and Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society—were officially announced. Professor Wu Dianliang, Chief Scientist of Huachangda Intelligent Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “HCD Group”) and project leader of the “AR‑Assisted Technology and Application Based on Intelligent Perception in Production Sites,” was honored with the Third Prize of the Technological Invention Award under China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award. The award fully recognizes Professor Wu’s technical contributions and innovative leadership in the fields of industrial intelligent perception and smart manufacturing.

Professor Wu Dianliang has long been dedicated to cutting-edge research in smart manufacturing technologies, including industrial artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence, and robotics. Under his leadership, the project team has successfully developed an intelligent production-assistance system that integrates AI vision with AR/MR technologies. This system establishes a workshop-level digital twin assistance platform, enabling closed-loop management of the entire process—from real-time perception of manufacturing operations and 3D visual intelligent guidance to online quality analysis and early warning. By leveraging deep learning algorithms and 3D virtual-real fusion technology, the system effectively addresses long-standing industry pain points such as the difficulty in real-time monitoring of process execution, delayed detection of assembly errors or omissions, and over-reliance on manual experience for quality control. It significantly enhances production precision and operational efficiency.

Professor Wu Dianliang has consistently championed the R&D philosophy that "innovation must be rooted in real-world scenarios, and its value realized through industrial application." He leads his team to deeply engage with manufacturing sites, focusing on tackling actual operational pain points. This ensures that the technological R&D projects are not only technologically advanced but also highly practical, replicable, and scalable. Currently, AR-assisted technology and application based on intelligent perception in production sites, has been successfully implemented across multiple sectors, including aerospace and high-end equipment, generating a series of replicable cases for intelligent upgrading.

Professor Wu Dianliang stated that this award is a recognition of HCD Group's technology pathway of "innovation driving the future." Going forward, he will continue to lead the R&D team in deepening exploration in areas such as embodied intelligence, digital twins, and industrial AR, promoting the industrial implementation of more cutting-edge technologies, and providing sustained technical support for the intelligent transformation of HCD Group as well as the broader manufacturing industry.
